The course provides an introduction to the sector to give you the confidence to apply for a job in the fashion industry should you choose to pursue it.
The fashion world is a dynamic and exciting place to work with many different professions making up the industry, including administration, accounting, finance, marketing, social media, and more.
The course consists of two modules and includes activities and quizzes to reinforce your learning. Modules are broken down into bite-sized chunks enabling you to work through the course with ease.
Module 1 – Introduction to Fashion
In this module, we explore fashion cycles and seasons, trade shows, designers and brands, and important fashion publications. Additionally, the module highlights the significance of fashion week in the fashion calendar.
Module 2 – Working in Fashion
In this module, we explore the diverse range of employers within the fashion industry and the various departments that make up a typical fashion business. The module covers the importance of diversity and inclusion in fashion, and it concludes by addressing the pressing issue of sustainability in the industry.

The Introduction to the Fashion Industry course provides an insight into how the industry works to arm those who have studied it the opportunity to apply for relevant jobs within this sector. Recognising and understanding terminology used in the fashion sector is a key skill in this field.
There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Requesting funding from your employers needn’t be a daunting task. Many employers support and encourage their employees with their professional development and consider it a worthwhile investment to fund any training required.
What we can help with:
There may be the opportunity to apply for funded grants that can help towards the cost of training. These include the Skills Development Scotland ITAs and the ReAct programme in Wales. All schemes will have different terms and conditions that will need to be met in order to qualify for a grant and these are managed by each individual centre.
